1995-1999 In 1997 the D.C. Moore Gallery in Manhattan held a tribute to the Grace Borgenicht Gallery, "The 1950's: The First Decade." During this time this leading New York gallery held four Schanker one man shows and he was included in eight other group shows. The Bethesda Art Gallery, held a show, "The 1939 World's Fair" which included some of Schanker's works. In an article in the Washington Post The Gallery owner, Betty Minor Duffy, "recalled telephoning artist Louis Schanker to ask if he had a particular print with the WPA Stamp on it. "Let me get this straight," replied an incredulous Schanker. "Are you telling me the customer wants the print only if it has the stamp? I can remember sitting down at a table for hours trying to erase that stamp" In 1998 Mercury Gallery of Boston held a major exhibit, "The Ten, 60th Anniversary Exhibition of the Ten at Mercury Gallery, 1938-1998." Several Schanker works including those on this page were exhibited. Other group shows during the period: 1997 Teller, "Shall We Dance?"
